Engineering Visionary Goals

CIVIL ENGINEERING

Capabilities:

Reisz Engineers provides civil engineering for commercial and government customers. Reisz Engineers has the capability to design or evaluate bridges, boat ramps, and water runoff. Reisz Engineers has numerous Professional Engineers on staff that are experts on a variety of engineering projects.

Projects:

Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant - Alabama

Reisz Engineers was responsible for a project for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) involving using warm wastewater to provide heating and evaporative cooling at the Browns Ferry Power Plant. This was recognized as one of ten outstanding engineering projects of 1978 by the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Engineering and Environmental Services - DOE at Fort McClellan, Alabama

Reisz Engineers provided professional services to the Fort McClellan DOE and DEH in multiple contracts. Reisz Engineers received an excellent performance rating by the US Army. These services include:
  • Sanitary systems upgrade (e.g. adding backflow preventers)
  • Erosion Control
  • Water Pollution Control Systems
  • Asbestos Building Materials Inspection (requiring certified professionals)
  • Environmental Impact Statements
  • Environmental assessments
  • Landscaping to compliment natural site.
  • Endangered Species, both flora and fauna
  • Integrated Natural Resource Usage Plan
In providing these services at Fort McClellan, Reisz Engineers works with various military departments including the Directorate of Public Works, Directorate of Environment, Directorate of Logistics, Emergency Operations Center and the Fire Prevention and Protection Division.

Water Quality Monitoring and Control - Fort McClellan, Alabama

Reisz Engineers provided water quality services at Fort McClellan, Alabama from 1995 to 2000. Monitoring wells were sampled and tested. Water runoff from various locations on the military reservations to include landfills, fueling points, military training ranges, and U.S. Army Chemical Corps training sites were collected, analyzed and reported. Laboratory tests were conducted on water samples for such chemicals as arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, mercury, barium, chlorides, iron, lead, manganese, nitrates, sodium and sulfate. Water samples were collected and tested and the findings reported in accordance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management regulations. Reisz Engineers designed and constructed water pollution control systems at Fort McClellan. Settling basins, oil-water separators, and water flow channels were designed and constructed. Reisz Engineers designed an irrigation system for an area of the main post at Fort McClellan and designed and built an earthen dam on Pelham Range. This work required coordination with the U.S. EPA, ADEM and the City of Anniston (Alabama) Water Department. Reisz Engineers provided engineering services for upgrading the Fort McClellan Water Treatment Plant. The services included developing and implementing the Backflow Prevention Plan so as to prevent contamination of the installation's primary water supply. Reisz Engineers also provided aqua cultural and pond management services for Lake Yahou on Fort McClellan.
